Planning Specialties

David Emery is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and has provided wealth management & financial planning services to clients since 1997.  Dave also holds the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA®) certification.

Dave’s calm and methodical approach to some of the most volatile financial planning issues may have roots in his early education in Mechanical Engineering and his first career as a sales engineer for the Torrington Company.

He assists the “sandwich generation”; those ranging from 45 to 65 years old and older– with retirement income planning. In doing so, he focuses on helping families understand where they are financially, where they want to go, and how to get there in such a way where they can sustain their lifestyle in retirement. He also helps elderly clients address financial, health, and legacy concerns.  “Transitioning to the next phases of life consists of psychological, financial, and lifestyle changes which often times are overwhelming.  We help families through these huge life events.”

As a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® professional, Dave also helps clients who are in the midst of difficult family transitions to understand the equitable distribution of marital assets, financial decisions related to divorce, and what their lifestyle will be-post divorce.  He has also been served as an Expert Witness when divorce matters end up in court.  “Knowing they have a financial professional at their side at every step gives my clients a great deal of peace,” he says.

In addition to these areas, Dave helps families reduce the costs associated with educating their children. “It’s usually the largest expense families face after buying their house,” Dave notes. “Planning ahead can save families thousands of dollars of the cost of educating their children.”
