Planning Specialties

Seeking the right financial advisor can be an overwhelming process because there are so many options. How do you know which firm or approach is right for your when they all sound the same? Here are the 'We Believes' that make Whitford Financial Planning unique.

We Believe...

That Recommendations Should Be In Your Best Interest On A Fee-Only Basis.

That An Adviser Needs To Meet You Where You Are Through Listening And Empathy.

That After-Tax Returns Should Be The Focus Instead Of Trying To 'Out Smart' The Market.

That Low-Cost Investments Are The Best Way To Keep More Of What You Earn.

That Short-Term Market Volatility Should Be Properly Understood Before Long-Term Investing Can Begin.

That Financial Planning Should Be Kept Simple To Focus On One Step At A Time.

Additional Information

Mike founded Whitford Financial Planning after working in the financial services industry for 25 years. He learned the importance of planning ahead and giving back by observing his parents manage their household finances. Mike wanted to become an advisor so he could help people make informed financial decisions and to make the most of what they have been given.

He started his career with Vanguard in a mutual fund accounting role but quickly realized he wanted to work directly with clients. While at Vanguard he completed the Certified Financial Planner(TM) coursework and first became an advisor.

Mike then transitioned to Rodgers & Associates where he was able to provide more in-depth tax and retirement planning services and helped to build and manage a team of advisors.

Mike has contributed articles to Forbes, Kiplinger and the Wall Street Journal. He lives in Downingtown, PA with his wife and three children. Mike has served the community as a volunteer mortgage counselor with Tabor and a classroom volunteer with Junior Achievement. When he is not helping clients, he enjoys running, playing sports and games with his family, working outside, and listening to music.
